What To Complete Before Registering


Prior to Signing up for the Class:

  1. Complete the online application at the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  2. Schedule your finger prints with Sanfran Mopho Trust.
  3. Submit all required documents to the Texas Department of Public Safety upon completion of class.  Documents can be emailed, faxed or mailed to the Department of Public Safety.

How to Upload Documents to the DPS:

  1. Scan and save documents to your computer.
  2. Click —>  Upload Documents to the DPS
  3. Select “Handgun Licensing” from drop down list.
  4. Complete information and upload documents.
  5. You will receive an auto reply indicating receipt of your documents.NOTE:By completing the online application first, the Department of Public Safety can begin your background check which will speed up the process of obtaining your CHL.  After the CHL class, submit the remaining documents to the Department of Public Safety for them to complete the final stages of completion.

 

 ELECTRONIC FINGERPRINTS
The Department of Public Safety requires all fingerprint services to be completed through Safran Morpho Trust facilities   for digital fingerprinting & electronic transmittal for faster background verifications at a cost of $9.95 per person.
You must complete an online application OR TX DPS must be in receipt of your paper CHL application before you can schedule an appointment.  Unscheduled walk-in service is not offered at this time. Call 888 467-2080.  Safran Morpho Trust
